“Due to current situation regarding the Corona crisis, we have implemented numerous preventative measures at all our shipyard locations, ” states Oliver Grün, Corporate Communication spokesperson for Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co KG. “In addition to the various standard hygiene measures, we have also introduced (for example) shift working in production, so less employees are working at the same time, introduced zoning areas to keep unnecessary contact to a minimum, and also work-from-home opportunities for various office functions.”
“These measures follow the current recommendations that come from the Robert Koch Institute, as well as the specifications of the German health authorities,” he explains. “In addition, we are in close contact with the regulatory bodies on a daily basis so that we can reassess the situation on site each day and ensure we adjust our operating procedures at short notice if necessary. Throughout the ongoing situation, we have continued to operate all our North German shipyards, including Blohm+Voss, and accordingly, we are currently processing several repair orders. Amongst those is the Hapag-Lloyd ship Hanseatic Nature, which arrived in mid-April. From the beginning of May, we are also expecting Hanseatic Inspiration and the cruise ship Hamburg at the Blohm+Voss shipyard.”
