“We have been working without any shut down due to the coronavirus,” states Hanne Magnussen
Marketing Manager at MarineShaft A/S. We have around 80 people at three locations. That makes it easier to keep a distance. We advise our employees to take precautions – remember distance, handwash. We have also divided the employees into teams, so everybody is not at a break at the same time. Our buffet is also closed, and we have cancelled all not necessary meetings, visitors to our facilities”.
She told DryDock; “No redundancies have been made, and we are still receiving rudder and propeller equipment to our workshops for repair or replacement. “The borders are also still open for the transportation of goods.”
Postponements and cancellations
“It is too early for us to predict how the coronavirus will affect the future order situation,” Magnussen told DryDock. “We have seen cancellations due to postponed dockings,” she explains. “Regulations due to the movement of workers have also postponed some on-site work – but it is still possible to travel.”
Stock and suppliers
“We have maintained our suppliers, and we always keep a large stock of raw material to provide short delivery times,” states Magnussen.
Current works
MarineShaft are currently manufacturing a new rudder stock Ø782 x 6840 mm with two shrunk-on stainless steel sleeves for an Italian. “The vessel is docking in Belgium, and we will soon send a service team to carry out on-site machining of the rudder cone and final fitting,” Magnussen told DryDock. “Of course, we and the shipyard are making all necessary arrangements to maintain the safety of our employees.”
