Babcock LGE Process, part of Babcock International Group, have been presented with two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for outstanding business achievement in the fields of ‘International Trade’. The awards celebrate the company’s world market leading performance in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector, and an ‘Innovation’ award for its Vent Gas Cooler (VGC™) technology.
Rapid growth has allowed actively-recruiting Babcock LGE Process to increase its workforce in Scotland from 40 to over 120 in four years. The Queen’s Awards, given to businesses that demonstrate excellence, mark a major achievement for the industry leader and highlight the success of its business model that supports an active UK-wide SME supply chain.
Babcock LGE developed the Vent Gas Cooler (VGC™) system, which enables enhanced refrigeration and handling of LPG products while minimising hydrocarbon emissions. They have also developed the SuperCooler™system to work together with the VGC™ for ethane and ethylene products.
To meet the need for natural gas as a clean and efficient fuel, the Babcock team is also developing its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business capability and exporting its knowledge and patented technology to ship owners across the world with FGSV0™ technology, which provides a true ‘zero-emissions’ solution for LNG supply vessels to fuel the future generation of cruise ships and container ships.
Neale Campbell, Programme Director: “Being invited to the reception at Buckingham Palace and now officially receiving our awards from the Lord Lieutenant of Edinburgh are proud moments for our entire team at Babcock LGE.
“Encouraged by receiving both accolades, and with our extensive experience and first rate capabilities, we will continue to push our business on to the next level harnessing the ambition and dedication our team has demonstrated to make us a global leader in LPG technology.”
Edinburgh’s Lord Lieutenant Donald Wilson said: “Babcock LGE Process is recognised for its remarkable success building international ties and for market-leading innovation and is one of just six businesses to receive two accolades in the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2016.
“I am delighted to present these staff with the awards on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen. All employees at Babcock should be proud of this fantastic achievement.”
